DESCRIPTION:Lindsay Wong‘s novel Villain Hitting for Vicious Little Nobodies is a genre-bending meditation about class\, ambition\, and the burden of being an impoverished model minority. In this wickedly funny horror story\, Wong lays bare the societal and cultural expectations placed on Chinese women. \nCome hear former VPL Writer in Residence Lindsay Wong discuss her new novel with Kevin Chong\, and discover why it’s getting rave reviews from fellow writers and readers alike. \n– \nLindsay Wong is the author of the critically acclaimed\, award-winning\, and bestselling memoir The Woo-Woo\, which was a finalist for Canada Reads 2019. Her story collection Tell Me Pleasant Things About Immortality was shortlisted for the BC and Yukon Jim Deva Prize for Writing That Provokes. She is also the author of a YA novel entitled My Summer of Love and Misfortune. Wong teaches creative writing at the University of Winnipeg\, and was VPL’s 2021 Writer in Residence. \nKevin Chong is the award-winning author of several books of fiction and nonfiction. His work has appeared in The Guardian\, The Rumpus\, and more. He currently lives in Vancouver and is an associate professor at the University of British Columbia\, Okanagan campus. The Double Life of Benson Yu was longlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize.
