SUMMARY:Exclusion: Beyond The Silence - Calgary Premiere
DESCRIPTION:The story of Exclusion recovered from Canada’s past. Don’t miss this extraordinary film during Asian Heritage Month. Limited engagement May 2\, 3 & 7. Visit CINEPLEX.COM for tickets. \nExclusion: Beyond the Silence is a documentary that reveals the human impact of a discriminatory immigration policy that caused lasting intergenerational trauma to Chinese Canadians\, their culture and family life. \nIt is the story of two granddaughters\, Keira Loughran and Helen Lee\, who set out to examine the legacy of their grandmothers\, Jean Lumb and Foon Hay Lum\, women who fought for reunification of Chinese Canadian families and helped pave the way for Canada’s policy of multiculturalism. \nIt’s an extraordinary untold story which serves as a timely reminder of the struggle\, sacrifice and the contribution made by countless Chinese Canadians to the fabric of this country.

SUMMARY:Eating Bitterness - Canadian Journey of Exclusion to Inclusion
DESCRIPTION:This exhibition is about the resilience of Chinese Canadians against the lasting oppressing impacts of the Chinese Exclusion Act (1923-1947) that created absences in Chinese Canadian communities\, such as generational severance\, lack of representation in leadership\, and erasure from the dominant Canadian narrative. This history has been omitted from Canadian history and continues to be primarily unknown. Highlighting key Chinese Canadian figures in the community who fought back against systemic racism through various interactive elements\, this project reflects on an important part of Canadian history and to solicit viewers to participate – how can they re-imagine a more inclusive future.  An invitation for all Canadians – What would Canada be without me and my family?
