Artist Talk with Steven Nunoda

Join us for an artist talk by Steven Nunoda whose installation ‘Ghosttown’ was part of the AGA’s exhibition Inheritance. This virtual program hosted by Executive Director and Curator Catherine Crowston is free to attend, and is part of the AGA’s Asian Heritage Month programming. This talk will centre on Nunoda’s research which includes his family and community history relating to the Japanese Canadian Internment and informs his work in the exhibition. We will also look at his past work and the creative process that informs his multidisciplinary practice.

The exhibition Inheritance forefronts historical facts that are often hidden or untold because they reveal that our shared past includes, and is based on, acts and systems of brutality, racism and oppression. Told by artists through research into the lives of family members and familial connections, the works in Inheritance demonstrate that history continues to reverberate through time, impacting the present and future.
