SUMMARY:AHM in Schools
DESCRIPTION:During the Asian Heritage Month in May and around the Canadian Multiculturalism Day on June 27\, we encourage educators to utilize the following educational resources for school activities (Resources for Educators – ACT2ENDRACISM).  The purpose is to deepen students’ understanding of Asian Canadian history and experiences\, anti-Asian racism\, share stories that instill pride in students’ cultural heritage and promote positive identity development and a sense of belonging. \n  \n\n“Asian Canadian Perspectives: A Resource for Educators” – this resource supports culturally responsive and relevant learning\, central to provincial policies on equity\, diversity and inclusion. The resources are pathways to implement the Kindergarten to Grade 12 curriculum\, specifically in Language Arts and Social Sciences.\n\n\n“Let’s Talk: Video Series About Anti-Asian Racism” (with discussion guides) –  The Video Campaign Project aims  to increse awareness and understanding of anti-Asian racism through providing historical and contemporary underpinnings of racism and discrimination. The videos and accompanying discussion guides range in use for grades 4+ and 7+.\n\n\nChinese Exclusion Act and its impacts and stories from “exclusion to inclusion” (under development).\n\n  \nTeacher training videos are available on the website (Resources for Educators – ACT2ENDRACISM) to assist in utilizing these resources effectively.  A limited number of honorariums is available to support schools in need of funding assistance.  The application form is embedded in the information sheet.
