Maya: The Revelation is a captivating dance production that explores themes of deception, redemption, and environmentalism through a mesmerizing blend of movement and storytelling. This fictional story will tell the mythical tale of a stolen treasure, and the revelation of what it’s true powers can do.

This exciting event will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at The Grand Theatre.

We are one of Calgary’s original Indian classical dance schools. Founded in 1987 and led by expert artistic director, Roma Thakore and pro-level choreographers, Kala Bhavan is Calgary’s premiere Indian dance school teaching Bharatnatyam, fusion & traditional folk dances of India. You may have seen us perform at local events around the city, at one of our previous shows or at a wedding!

Our 2025 production is titled ‘Maya: The Revelation’ and is an original dance drama. This fictional story will tell the mythical tale of a stolen treasure, and the revelation of what it’s true powers can do. The dance drama, in a musical style, will include a variety of dance styles. The show will feature all of Kala Bhavan’s dancers and will be done on an original script written by KBC’s Parvathi Nair and Kajal Dattani.

All of the extra work that goes into a production like this is volunteer based. This is truly a passion project and all other obligations like work, family, significant others, go by the wayside! 🙂
