Otafest is Calgary’s volunteer-run, non-profit, all-ages Japanese anime and pop culture festival featuring anime screenings, an exhibitor hall, community panels, cosplay contests, voice actors, concerts, and so much more!

Otafest started in 1999 as The University of Calgary’s Dedicated Otaku Anime Club. What began as a one-day festival to share their love of Japanese Animation (anime) became Calgary’s premier weekend celebration of Japanese art and pop culture two and a half decades later. Otafest is a Japanese pop-culture event that focuses on Japanese animation (anime) and comics (manga) as well as Japanese pop (J-pop).
